Congresswoman is shot in Arizona.

January 9, 2011: January 9 is … Play God Day. What is this about?

BRUCE A. BRENNAN BLOG FROM THE WORLD AND MY MIND
The news as I see it and the views as I want them.

Released this week were the abortion numbers for New York City in 2009. They show the overall abortion rate is 41%, much higher among black women; for black women it is close to 60%. Regardless of your position on abortion, a rate where six out of ten births are aborted is unacceptable. Four out of ten is just as unacceptable. This is a lazy, expensive and immoral way to control population growth. The statistics did not point this out but I would bet the majority of the cost of abortions is paid for by the government, one way or another.

Education, training, religious teachings and sterilization must be incorporated into a stop-the-abortion campaign. People have to learn every action has a reaction. For the action of casual, unprotected sex the reaction is disease and pregnancy. We license your car, your privilege to drive, your privilege to hunt, your privilege to fish, your dog, your business, your barber, your doctor, your lawyer, your minister, your plumber, your electrician, your bartender, your florist, your dentist, your pharmacist, your stock broker and your real estate broker plus others but we do not license parents.

College football fans know the Florida Gators are orange and blue, but that, of course, is just a uniform. n the wild, Florida alligators are a grayish black on top, with a lighter-colored belly, usually. One alligator in Venice, Fla., defies that rule. On Tuesday, 74-year-old Sylvia Mythen discovered an orange alligator sunning itself in a pond near her home. Experts believe someone actually dyed the alligator for the college football bowl season.

You can find the orange alligator if you just Google “orange alligator” for a picture and a story about this freak of nature.

New Orleans is no longer the defending Super Bowl Champions. Indianapolis is out of the playoffs also. No Super Bowl rematch this year.

I can understand peaceful protest. I can understand civil disobedience. The shooting in Arizona of the Congresswoman, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, at a public appearance is another example of this country going to hell in a hand cart. Multiple deaths and injuries plus the pain, suffering and grief of the victim’s families are too big a price to pay regardless of your political leanings. The Tea Party will cease to exist if this is in any way tied to it.
According to authorities, anonymous spokespeople, rumors and press releases, the shooter, firing a semiautomatic weapon, targeted Giffords as she met with constituents around 10 a.m. Saturday outside a busy Tucson supermarket. Authorities said Arizona's chief federal judge and five others were killed and 13 people were wounded, including the Democrat lawmaker. Among the dead was a nine year old who was attending the event with a neighbor because she was just elected to the student council and had an interest in politics and government.
Giffords, who is married to astronaut, Mark E. Kelly, had won re-election in November for her third term. The campaign was littered with threats and immature behavior. She was targeted for defeat by Sarah Palin.  During a recent interview on MSNBC Giffords said, "For example, we're on Sarah Palin's targeted list, but the thing is, that the way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district. When people do that, they have to realize that there are consequences to that action," That seems prophetic.
Her opponent also held campaign events centering around guns as is his website. Arizona is a State where gun ownership and gun rights are taken seriously. Giffords is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment right to own guns.

The shooter’s attack was stopped after two people tackled him. Too bad the gun he was holding did not ‘accidently’ go off, hitting the gunman.

I will say a Hail Mary or two for the victims today. Please join me.
