What happened to the news?

SEPTEMBER 12, 2010

Nice try DeKalb. You just aren’t good enough, yet.

I am going to mention something about the Florida Pastor and his Koran burning fiasco before I criticize myself, the media and the government.

If you google “bombing of mosque”, pages of stories and information come up about the bombing of mosques all over the world. The majority of the bombings are in Muslim Countries or parts of the world. A significant majority of the bombings were perpetrated by Muslim groups.

Rightly so, most of these bombings are condemned by Muslim leaders. I have never seen or heard any of these so-called “Muslim leaders” complain about the burning of the Koran that resulted from the bombing. Either it is a big deal or it is not. President Obama has never complained about the destruction of the Koran in these bombings. General Petraeus is silent on the subject. However, when an obscure reverend from rural central Florida threatens to burn the Koran, the whole United States government is up in arms. They all say: He has the right to do it but he shouldn’t” when what they mean is “We need to make this activity illegal. Let’s start with this guy in Florida.”

The entire Muslim world needs to clean-up their backyard, not tell America how to clean ours. We had a few people thinking about burning a book, you have thousands killing people because you do not like the way they live or they draw cartoons about Muhammad or they want more power or they want to run the world. Someone in authority has to tell the Muslim world they are an annoying pimple on the world’s rear end and always will be until they join this century and he rest of the civilized world.

President Obama, don’t apologize to these nuts. I think everyone has had enough of you apologizing for America’s behavior. The world is a better place because America exists. That is not true about every country. I would just as soon they say “Thank You” than us apologize.

Yesterday was the ninth anniversary of the cowardly Muslim attack on America. The History Channel had plenty of programming on in memory of the attacks but it was all reruns. I did not notice any network showing new programming in honor of 9/11.

The news media spent a week detailing this enormous hurricane that was going to devastate the East coast, from Florida to the Canadian border. Nothing happened. The news media spent a week rehashing the debacle of Katrina. Then Paris Hilton got arrested for some blow in Las Vegas. We even heard about the type of purse the cocaine was discovered in.

Then, of course, almost on cue, came the Florida Koran burning story. Everyone, accept for the news media new this was not going to happen. It was covered extensively for a week. Every network had people in Gainesville covering this insignificant little church and the leader with the mustache that made it hard to take him seriously. The weather Channel was reporting on the weather forecast for the date and time of the big burn.

You would think some news director somewhere would have seen it fit to give the anniversary of an event that sent our country into two wars an hour-long special. At least lead the news with it, not stick it after the Prevacid commercial break.

May be I am wrong, but something did not seem right about the countries priorities the last ten days.
