Did you notice that every Major League Baseball game in the American League had a 5 in the final score on Sunday? Only two games in the National League had a 5 in the final score.
I hate jumping on and off a band wagon and I have not actually rejoined the White Sox tour wagon but I am clearing a spot for my leap. They won last night and that is three in a row making it a winning streak.
This was a surprise and sad. Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife of 25 years, Maria Shriver, announced Monday that they are separating.
The statement, issued by a spokesman for Schwarzenegger, said the two were working on the future of their relationship while living apart and they would continue to parent their four children together. "This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us," the two said in a prepared statement. "After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together." It was not clear from the statement if either remained at their estate in Brentwood, or whom the children were with. Schwarzenegger's spokesman, Daniel Ketchell, said he wouldn't answer questions beyond what was said in Monday's statement.
Schwarzenegger, a Republican, finished his seven-year run as governor in January and has been traveling to deliver speeches and pursuing entertainment projects. He tweeted frequently during his travels to such faraway places as Brazil, Nigeria and France. Shriver was not mentioned in his Twitter updates from the road. Shriver, also active on social networks, posted three updates on her Twitter page on the day of their 25th wedding anniversary, April 26, but did not mention the milestone.
About a month before the anniversary, Shriver wrote on her Facebook page that she was going through a transition in her life. "As you know, transitions are not easy. I'd love to get your advice on how you've handled transitions in your own life," she said in a video posted on YouTube.
Arnold, she’s got money, power and looks. You should reconsider. Your movie career is likely over. Age prevents you from being an action hero and acting prevents most everything else.
The Union Pacific and the Central Pacific Railways met on this day, May 10, 1869. There was a grand celebration at Promontory, Utah when, in honor of the linking of the two railways, a golden spike was driven into the railroad. The spike, valued at $400, was driven, along with bronze spikes into a laurel wood tie by the president of the Central Pacific, Leland Stanford. Some say Mr. Stanford missed on his first stroke.
Immediately after the celebration, the spikes and tie were removed and replaced with the standard pine tie and steel spikes. Interestingly, the people involved in this historic moment were unaware of its significance in the great scheme of things; and no markings were left at the specific location of the meeting of the rails. It is possible that the point at Promontory is a little to the left or south or north or right of the true spot where the rails were joined. In other words, like Mr. Stanford, we may have missed the exact spot that marks the final link in the ocean-to-ocean railroad. The golden Spike was never made of solid gold. Gold is a soft, pliable metal that would have crushed when struck by a sledge hammer. It was painted gold. The celebratory spikes that were driven that day could have stayed in place and just surrounded by functional spikes but even then, the authorities were worried about thieves stealing the spikes and damaging the railroad in the process.
President Obama gave an interview to 60 Minutes that was broadcast on Sunday night. Some of the interview was typical political doublespeak and answering what he wanted not what he was asked. Some of the interview was sincere and patriotic. At one point he said, “Justice was done,". Regarding the Osama Bin Laden Mission, Obama said, "As nervous as I was about this whole process, the one thing I didn't lose sleep over was the possibility of taking bin Laden out."
I hope the moron known as Governor Milquetoast was watching. President Obama said, 'Justice was done, and I think anyone who would question that the perpetrator of mass murder on American soil didn't deserve what he got needs to have their head examined.'
Thanks to the Governor of Illinois, if the Bin Laden planned attack took place in Illinois and no Federal laws were broken, Bin Laden would not be eligible for the death penalty. It does not matter that guilt is not questioned and that 3,000 people died, Illinois could not impose the death penalty. THANK YOU GOVERNOR QUINN. Even President Obama thinks you should have your head examined.
I hope you enjoy your retirement in prison with the rest of our former governors. You, however, may be in a female prison since you don’t have any balls.
Boy those Pakistanis know how to give us payback. The government outed a high CIA operative in Pakistan. One problem, however, is they named the wrong person. That’s showing us. Pakistani media have reported what they say is the name of the CIA station chief in Islamabad – the second such potential outing of a sensitive covert operative in six months, and one that comes with tensions running high over the U.S. raid in Pakistan that killed al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden. The Associated Press has learned that the name being reported is incorrect. Still, the publication of any alleged identity of the U.S. spy agency's top official in this country could be pushback from Pakistan's powerful military and intelligence establishment, which was humiliated over the surprise raid on its soil, and could further sour relations between Washington and Islamabad.
On Friday, the private TV channel ARY broadcast what it said was the current station chief's name. The Nation, a right-wing newspaper, picked up the story Saturday. ARY's news director, Mazhar Abbas, said the television station's reporter gleaned the name from a source. He defended the broadcast, saying it was "based on fact," and denounced allegations that the name was leaked to the television channel by an official with a motive. Hey moron, have you read the news lately? While you are at it, get a real name people can pronounce, doesn’t sound like every other one and is made fun of; try Bob Jones or Bill West.
Just a couple of thoughts I had.
