NIU Football, Charlie Manson is on the phone.

These thoughts are mine. They may be shared by many but I am speaking for myself. If you are offended, it was not intentional. If you continually get offended by my positions and opinions, you should change, I doubt I will.
DECEMBER 4, 2010

NIU was beaten in the MAC Championship game at Ford’s Field by Miami of Ohio 26 to 21 Friday night.

Perhaps the heavily favored NIU Huskies should have saved some of the points they ran-up on Eastern Michigan last week-end. They could have used six of those points, even five to start with. A huge defensive gaff cost NIU this game. With NIU leading 21 to 20 with 1:51 remaining in the game, Miami had the ball on their own 38 yard line. It was 4th and twenty, typically a situation where the defense holds the opponent from a first down. It was not to be Friday night. Miami completed a pass for 31 yards, gaining a first down. It took Miami two more plays to score the go ahead touchdown, a 33 yard scoring pass.

NIU still had a chance. They got to the Miami 31 yard line with ten seconds to go but threw an incomplete pass and ended the game on a quarterback sack. A great year ended miserably, at least the regular season ended. NIU could still go to a bowl game.

The University of Illinois also managed to get beat Friday night 25 to 23 by Fresno State in California. Not a good night for the State of Illinois football. Both games were nationally shown on ESPN 2.

I have been hearing President Obama and all of the King’s men talk about how they have turned around the worst United States economy in decades. They are constantly blaming George Bush for the bad aspects of the economy; in the next breath, they claim they have added hundreds of thousands of jobs which is fueling the alleged recovery. No legitimate expert that does not work for the President agrees a recovery is underway. You can always find someone with a degree to say what you want

Now, some of the truth is hard to lie about. The November unemployment rate jumped to a seven month high, to 9.8 %. This is at a time when unemployment typically goes down or stays steady because of seasonal hiring. All of you enjoying this great economic recovery, have a happy holiday season.

When the spin masters blame this on George Bush on the talking heads news programs this week-end, I hope someone reminds them that when this downturn began, the Democrats were in control of both houses of Congress, with a super majority in the Senate. Why is it all Bush’s fault? Congress makes the laws; the President merely suggests some laws.

Charlie Rangel gets a slap on wrist and keeps his job. Look what happens to a somewhat normal citizen.

The date is set for Wesley Snipes, and he's finally out of options. The 'Blade' hero was ordered to start his 3-year jail sentence for tax evasion on Dec. 9 at noon, AP reports. Snipes is scheduled to serve his time at a federal prison in Pennsylvania. Snipes, who has been free on bail since the 2008 conviction, has attempted to have his case overturned to no avail.

It is nice to hear from friends and relatives around the holidays, sometimes. Charles Manson was caught with a cell phone hidden under his mattress in his prison cell in California. He had made numerous phone calls to people in several different states. The cell phone was confiscated. It is not illegal to have a cell phone in prison in California but you need permission. Manson did not have permission. Prison authorities said it was difficult to keep the contraband out of prisons. I do not see why. Don’t the prison officials still have the guns in California? An accidental shooting now and then will make the prisoners think twice about breaking the rules.
