Slaughter of Americans: A man armed with a handgun attacked a bus carrying U.S. Air Force troops at the Frankfurt airport Wednesday, killing two airmen and wounding two others before being taken into custody, authorities said. Boris Rhein, the top security official in the German state of Hesse where the shooting took place, identified the shooter as a 21-year-old from Kosovo. Family members in Kosovo described the suspect as a devout Muslim, gasp now, who was born and raised in Germany and worked at the airport. In Washington, President Barack Obama promised to "spare no effort" in investigating the slayings. I bet this investigation goes no farther than today. "I'm saddened and I'm outraged by this attack," he said. The attack came as the bus sat outside the airport's Terminal 2, according to Frankfurt police spokesman Manfred Fuellhardt. The bus driver and a passenger were killed, while one airman suffered light injuries and a second suffered serious wounds and was in life-threatening condition, he said.

I have a story in my recent book, “A Revengeful Mix of Short Fiction” that details how this continuous barrage on America and Americans by Muslim extremists and others around the world can be stopped dead in its tracks. Pick up the book and enjoy a little revenge. Pay backs are a bitch!

The United States Supreme Court sided with the Westboro Baptist Church in an 8 to 1 decision. The Court agreed with the church they have the right to protest at the funeral of fallen soldiers. The suit against the church was brought by the father of a soldier killed in the line of duty. This church of wackos protested at the funeral. The father sued for emotional distress among other torts. This was after the father did some Internet research and discovered a poem on the church’s web site criticizing the killed soldier’s parents for how they raised their child.

This church, which is allegedly comprised of homosexuals, child sex molesters and pedophiles, protests at military funerals, claiming the dead soldiers are being punished for this country’s tolerance of homosexuality, like theirs. This group which calls itself a church and apparently meets the legal definition of same is solely dedicated to homosexual hatred. The leader is a once prominent civil rights attorney who apparently now drinks what Charlie Sheen drinks.

The father originally won 11 million dollars from a jury, reduced to 8.5 million by the Judge. An Appeals Court threw out the award and now the Supreme Court has agreed with the Appellate Court.

Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the opinion for the court. That is surprising. Justice Samuel Alito dissented. That is not surprising and also correct. The Court relied on the judicially expanded First Amendment right to free speech. Thomas Jefferson never had that in his mind while writing the Constitution or the Bill of Rights.

Under the Court’s reasoning, I can now go into a crowded public place and yell “fire” as long as I am protesting against firefighters. Is that really what we want in America? I do not want that. Hopefully, someone will go to the Westboro Church when it is full to capacity and yell “fire’ in the guise of a protest to first responders. If a few dozen or so of these maniacal Christians are stampeded to death in the clamor to exit the church, so be it. Where’s a Muslim suicide bomber when you need one?

Do you think the turmoil in the Middle East had any influence on this decision by the Catholic Church? Pope Benedict XVI has made a sweeping exoneration of the Jewish people for the death of Jesus Christ in a new book, tackling one of the most controversial issues in Christianity. In "Jesus of Nazareth" excerpts released Wednesday, Benedict uses a biblical and theological analysis to explain why it is not true that the Jewish people as a whole were responsible for Jesus' death.

Interpretations to the contrary have been used for centuries to justify the persecution of Jews. While the Vatican has for five decades taught that Jews weren't collectively responsible, Jewish scholars said Wednesday the argument set out by the German-born pontiff, who has had his share of mishaps with Jews, was significant and would help fight anti-Semitism today.

Take time to celebrate the fact that on this day in 1923 the first issue of the weekly periodical TIME appeared on newsstands. The first issue was 32 pages and featured a charcoal sketch of House Speaker Joseph Gurney ‘Uncle Joe’ Cannon on the cover. It was the United States’ first modern news magazine (circulation of 3,700).  The worldwide news weekly, founded by Henry Luce and Briton Hadden, is printed in several languages and is among the most popular magazines in history (readership of 3.3 million). The magazine, published by Time Warner, has a corporate staff housed in its own building: the Time and Life Building in New York City.
