October 29 is … Hermit Day

The St. Louis Cardinals, managed by the former manager of the White Sox, are world champions of professional baseball. They defeated the Texas Rangers last evening 6 – 2 to win the World Series 4 games to 3. Let the Albert Pujols bidding begin!

Say HI to Herman if you see him today. Do not bother looking in St. Louis. Texas would be a good place to look. You probably won’t, he likes to be alone. I’m telling you now, Mrs Brown, you’ve got a lovely daughter. No, wait, There’s kind of a hush all over the world. I’m into something good because I’m Henry the VIII, I Am.

Nice try John, it just did not work, yet. On Thursday, a federal judge in North Carolina refused to dismiss criminal charges against John Edwards, local station WTVD reports.

U.S. District Court Judge Catherine C. Eagles ruled in Greensboro that the federal government's case against the former presidential candidate and U.S. senator can proceed.

Mr. Edwards will likely become a hermit now. I hope former Judge Donald D. Thompson just dries up and becomes a hermit. He already has the toys he needs to keep busy.

A former Creek County judge convicted of exposing himself and using a male enhancement device while seated at the bench is not eligible to receive judicial retirement benefits, the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday.

The high court upheld a decision by the Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System Board of Trustees, ruling that Donald D. Thompson, a 23-year veteran of the Sooner State legal system, violated his oath of office by using a penis pump while presiding over trials, according to NewsOK.

Thompson served about 20 months in prison after being found guilty in 2006, at which time his monthly pension of $7,789 was discontinued. During his own trial, Thompson unsuccessfully argued that the criminal actions did not disrupt the proceedings in his courtroom, Tulsa World reported. After leaving prison, Thompson registered as a sex offender. He also faces a pending felony charge dating back to a July 19 traffic stop when police allegedly found Thompson driving under the influence.

October 28 is … Plush Animal Lover's Day and National Chocolate Day

A David Freese plush animal would sell big in St. Louis today. The St. Louis Cardinals won last night over the Texas Rangers 10-9 in eleven innings. The World Series is tied at 3-3 with a deciding game 7 scheduled for tonight.

I have always liked actor James Garner. This Oklahoman was originally named James Bumgarner but the studio changed his name, without telling him, to James Garner. It was probably a good career move.

The 83 year-old has written an autobiography. It is being released November 1, 2011. I will report on it once I get it and read it. I am going against my initial reaction by reading this life-long Democrats life story, but since his stroke in 2008 has prevented him from being as politically active as he once was. He is in decent medical shape for a man that smoked for over thirty years and suffered a stroke. I wish him well. Like I said, I always liked him.

On the NBC Nightly News Wednesday night, they reported a story about the Mexican drug cartels recruiting American youngsters to move drugs over the border. The story was based in Maverick County Texas.

Apparently Bernie Madoff was only good at one thing or perhaps he was not really trying. He had to know his stocking was only going to have coal in it Christmas morning. Ruth Madoff, wife of disgraced Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff, told "60 Minutes" that the couple was so distraught over her husband's crimes that they attempted suicide together.

"I don't know whose idea it was, but we decided to kill ourselves because it was so horrendous what was happening," Ruth Madoff tells reporter Morley Safer. "We had terrible phone calls. Hate mail, just beyond anything and I said '...I just can't go on anymore.' "

On Christmas Eve, Ruth and Bernie went through with the suicide pact. It obviously did not work since she is talking about it. It could be to improve the marketability of her inevitable tell-all book.

How much is enough? The biggest thing wrong with this story is that it is Exxon Mobil and not me. The fact big oil companies get taxpayers money is also upsetting.

Exxon Mobil says its net income rose 41 percent in the third quarter as higher oil and natural gas prices made up for lower production.

The largest publicly traded oil company earned $10.33 billion, or $2.13 per share. That compared with $7.35 billion, or $1.44 per share, a year earlier. Revenue rose 32 percent to $125.3 billion. Analysts had expected earnings of $2.12 per share on revenue of $118.5 billion, according to FactSet.

Oil production fell 7 percent to 2.25 million barrels per day while natural gas production slipped 3 percent to 4.28 million cubic feet per day. Production fell, causing an artificial shortage which in turn caused prices to rise.

Exxon Mobil made $10.33 billion in the third quarter. That adds up to a yearly profit of $41.32 billion. That is $3.4433 billion per month or around $113 million a day. Let me repeat that; $113 million dollars per day in profits.

Exxon Mobil makes Bernie Madoff look like a school boy.

October 27 is … Sylvia Plath Day

Sylvia Plath (October 27, 1932 – February 11, 1963) was an American poet, novelist and short story writer. Born in Massachusetts, she studied at Smith College and Newnham College, Cambridge before receiving acclaim as a professional poet and writer. She married fellow poet Ted Hughes in 1956 and they lived together first in the United States and then England, having two children together: Frieda and Nicholas. Following a long struggle with depression and a marital separation, Plath committed suicide in 1963. Controversy continues to surround the events of her life and death, as well as her writing and legacy.

Plath is credited with advancing the genre of confessional poetry and is best known for her only two collections published in her lifetime: The Colossus and Other Poems and Ariel. In 1982, she became the first poet to win a Pulitzer Prize posthumously, for The Collected Poems. She also wrote The Bell Jar, a semi-autobiographical novel published shortly before her death

President Obama and his spin unit have finally decided to live on their own and not in the past. President George W. Bush is no longer their fall guy, for now at least. At roughly noon on Tuesday, shortly after Gov. Rick Perry unveiled the tax policy platform for his presidential campaign, President Obama's reelection team offered a response. The Texas Republican and top challenger Mitt Romney wanted to "shift a greater share of taxes away from large corporations and the wealthiest onto the backs of the middle class," the campaign's press secretary, Ben LaBolt, emailed reporters.

It was a customary campaign response: tough-worded, carefully crafted and with a targeted message. Notably, it excluded mention of the most oft-criticized GOP figure of the last decade: former President George W. Bush.

From President Obama's 2008 campaign through the mid-term elections in 2010, the nation's 43rd president has served as a reliable boogeyman. The phrase "Bush's failed economic policies" was ingrained in the political lexicon. The "Bush foreign policy" became synonymous with disastrous adventures overseas. A "return to Bush" was the threat attached to any perspective Republican candidacy.

And yet, months into the president's run for a second term, mentions of Bush have all but disappeared. A review of the official public statements sent by the campaign from either LaBolt or campaign manager Jim Messina since late April reveals that the former president has yet to be mentioned by name. And it's not because there hasn't been an opportunity to do so.

Some days it just doesn’t pay to get into bed.  A British woman bit off more than she could chew, and now she may go to jail. Authorities say that Maria Betty Top, mother of four, bit her partner's testicles during a drunken brawl on Feb. 18 that left the man bloody, disoriented, and in need of nineteen stitches.

"All options are open and that will include locking you up," court official Robin Mairs told Topp in the Newcastle Crown Court, according to the BBC.

The unlucky man, 45-year-old Martine Douglas, a disk jockey from Newcastle, was so horrified that emergency service operators had difficulty understanding the situation when he called for help, The Sun reports. "The two had been in a relationship for five years at the time of this offence. There had been difficulties and turbulence in the past," Mairs continued. "They had split up numerous times, getting back together numerous times. On the day in question, there is no doubt they were very heavily in drink."

So heavily "in drink" that, despite admitting to the nauseating act, Topp says she has trouble accurately recalling the incident.

Topp will be sentenced Nov. 11, the BBC reports. Still, she maintains there was bad behavior on both sides. In the woman's defense, lawyer Caroline Goodwin described the incidents leading up to the biting at a hearing, in which she said, "The defendant was on her back with the victim straddling her." This broad apparently did not go to school in New York where she would have learned the proper technique for giving head.

It could also be jackass day but who is the jackass, the West that liberated Libya or the new Libyan leaders who have now embraced Islam as the basis for their new Constitution and government. Abdul-Jalil laid out a vision for a new Libya with an Islamist tint, saying Islamic Sharia law would be the "basic source" of legislation, and that existing laws that contradict the teachings of Islam would be nullified.

He outlined several changes to align with Islamic law, including putting caps on interest for bank loans and lifting restrictions on the number of wives Libyan men can take. The Muslim holy book, the Quran, allows men up to four wives.

Abdul-Jalil thanked those who fought and fell in the war, saying they "are somewhere better than here, with God." Displaying his own piety, he then stepped aside from the podium and knelt to offer a prayer of thanks.

Using Sharia as the main source of legislation is stipulated in the constitution of neighboring Egypt. Still, Egyptian laws remain largely secular as Sharia does not cover all aspects of modern life.

At least we knew the former devil; now we must get to know a new devil.

Speaking of jackasses, the New York School system is apparently full of them. Sexual education classes at NYC public high schools and middle schools might feature some usually unmentioned lessons next year; among the lessons; bestiality, anal sex, oral sex, phone sex, porn and more, WSBT reports. According to the report, the Department of Education has recommended students learn "everything there is to know about sex" in the new curriculum.

The New York Post reviewed the potential workbooks and posted a list of some of the lesson assignment:

·         High-school students go to stores and jot down condom brands, prices and features such as lubrication.

·         Teens research a route from school to a clinic that provides birth control and STD tests, and write down its confidentiality policy.

·         Kids ages 11 and 12 sort “risk cards” to rate the safety of various activities, including “intercourse using a condom and an oil-based lubricant,’’ mutual masturbation, French kissing, oral sex and anal sex.

·         Teens are referred to resources such as Columbia University’s Web site Go Ask Alice, which explores topics like “doggie-style” and other positions, “sadomasochistic sex play,” phone sex, oral sex with braces, fetishes, porn stars, vibrators and bestiality.

·          

This comes after Deputy Mayor Linda Gibbs commended the DOE in August for giving students the necessary information about sexual activity, and what choices are available to them, NBC New York reported.

Lesson plans will also talk about french kissing, condoms and lubricants, and mutual masturbation. While some parents worry that the curriculum could make some sexual activities seem appealing, one New York City father told WSBT that he doesn't see a problem with it. "I think it's a good idea," he told the station. "They're going to have sex. They know it exists. Teaching them about it in my mind doesn't sanction it or encourage it." They also know murder exists. Are we going to show them or teach them how to commit murder?

The new lessons could make their way into classrooms as soon as this spring, as well as a free condom program at every NYC public school, as sex education is becoming more commonplace in schools and among younger students. D.C. Public Schools announced last month, in a move that's the first of its kind in the country, that students in grades 5, 8 and 10 will be administered standardized tests on sexuality, contraception and drug use.

Gaddafi’s captors would have liked these changes.

Where are the parents? This is an area the parents should teach their children about. It is getting close to the time where we need to consider licensing parenthood.

A few words about and from Thomas Jefferson;
