He will not be around to Wu any more young ladies.

July 27 it is… Take Your Pants For A Walk Day

Stay in your pants to do this. Congressman Wu might still have a job if he had left his pants on.

At least one Congressman has learned something from Weinergate. If you are caught with your pants down, do not bother trying to cover-up. It just will not work. Democratic Rep. David Wu of Oregon announced Tuesday that he will resign amid political fallout from an 18-year-old woman's allegations she had an unwanted sexual encounter with him.

Within days of the allegation, Democratic leaders requested a House Ethics Committee investigation of his conduct. Wu had said Monday he would not seek re-election, but had come under increasing pressure to step down. "The wellbeing of my children must come before anything else," Wu said in a statement. "With great sadness, I therefore intend to resign effective upon the resolution of the debt-ceiling crisis. This is the right decision for my family, the institution of the House, and my colleagues."

Wu is the second House Democrat in the last six weeks to be forced to resign as a result of a sex scandal. Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York resigned after sending lewd photos of himself through Twitter.

It is hard to make Wu in Congress any more. It’s about time.

On this day in 1909, Orville Wright (one of the famous Wright Brothers, along with Wilbur) set a record for the longest airplane flight. Not that there were many records available ... after all, it was the Wright Brothers who worked so hard at making plane flight practical in the first place!

Orville was testing the Army’s first airplane and kept it aloft for 1 hour, 12 minutes and 40 seconds over Fort Myer, Virginia. He was so tired from the experience that the plane crash-landed. He and his passenger (name unknown) were OK. I wonder if he wore p[ants for this flight?

On this date in 1953 the armistice agreement that ended the Korean War was signed at Panmunjon, Korea. The war lasted three years and 32 days. The truce negotiations between North Korean and U.S. delegates (representing South Korea) lasted two years and seventeen days.

Also on this date in 1990,  Zsa Zsa Gabor begins a 3 day jail sentence for slapping a cop. She is still alive but apparently in poor health.

Serial killers are always among us. They have been around for hundreds of years or longer but were just given a name in the late 1970s. A serial killers suffer from Antisocial Personality Disorder and appear normal or charming, sometimes referred to as the "mask of sanity." Sometimes there is a sexual element to the murders and they may have a commonality such as gender, occupation, appearances, race, etc.

The term serial killer was coined in the 1970s due to cases such as Ted Bundy and David Berkowitz. According to an FBI Behavioral Unit study 85% of the world's serial killers are in America. At any given time 20 to 50 unidentified active serial killers are at work continually changing their targets and methods. Prostitutes, runaways, and others who lead transient and anonymous lives are usually not reported missing promptly and receive little police or media attention, making them excellent targets. Experts speculate on what happens to unsolved cases of murderers. Some may commit suicide, die, be incarcerated, in mental institutions, relocate, or stopped killing; a few turn themselves in.

Experts don't agree on an exact definition of a serial killer but general definitions are based on numbers and patterns: two or more unrelated victims in distinctly separate incidents. The Northwest has a notorious history of prototype killers -- among them are Ted Bundy and the Green River Killer. Lesser known serial killers have claimed scores of lives but are only charged and/or convicted of one or two murders, but suspected of more.

A couple of years ago the BTK killer from Wichita, Kansas resurfaced after nearly 30 years since his first suspected killing. Dennis Rader was active from 1974 to 1994. In 2004 he began writing letters about his crimes. He had written letters while he was active, teasing the authorities and daring them to catch him. After his desire to reenter the spotlight resulted in the letters in 2004, he got his wish and was captured.

Are you tired of political correctness? Do you find it difficult to say what you believe because someone is always looking to pick a fight? I am tired of it. I did not bomb anything on 9/11. I never enslaved anyone. I do not owe anyone a free ride regardless of their upbringing, social status, color, race or lot in life. I see no reason to apologize for being an American, for being from the greatest nation the world has ever known no matter what Pres. Obama does. I am not happy with our President but I am proud of him. I do not agree with everything our country does overseas and around the world but I will defend these actions to my death.

Remember political correctness.  "Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical and radical minority, rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Just a couple of thoughts I had and you should too.

Congress doing nothing; Obama in over his head!

JULY 26, 2011

July 26 is … All Or Nothing Day

What a choice. Congress gets to choose between all and damn the cost or all and damn the taxpayer.

Good luck to my son, Ross. He is sitting for the bar exam in Indiana today and tomorrow. He will do just fine, I am sure.

Speaking of the out of control Congress, another member of Congress is showing how proud he is of his penis. This piece of work decided to show off to a teenager 38 years younger than he is. Congressman David Wu is facing calls for his resignation over a young woman's reported accusation that she had an "unwanted sexual encounter" with the Democrat three weeks after his election victory in November.

The seven-term Democrat had a telephone conversation on Saturday with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi about the allegation, said Wu spokesman Erik Dorey. He would not comment on the substance of their talk. An aide to Pelosi declined Saturday to comment on Wu, who earlier this year apologized for bizarre behavior during his most recent re-election campaign. Gee, I wonder what they discussed? Probably was not the debt crisis.

The allegation – which was first reported by The Oregonian newspaper – seemed to be boiling into yet another sex scandal confronting a member of Congress. It comes a month after Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., stepped down after getting caught sending suggestive pictures of himself on his Twitter account. Late Friday, the 56-year-old Wu issued a one-sentence statement about The Oregonian's report: "This is very serious, and I have absolutely no desire to bring unwanted publicity, attention or stress to a young woman and her family." Pressure was building on Wu to publicly address the allegation. There were also calls for his resignation. Show pride in yourself and not just in your red-headed brother, resign or commit suicide.

"I'm saddened to hear this news. David owes the citizens he represents a detailed explanation," said State Rep. Brad Witt, who is running against Wu in the Democratic primary next spring. "If this accusation proves to be true, it's time for David Wu to resign and get the help he needs." Another challenger of Wu in the Democratic primary, state Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian, said Saturday Wu should resign immediately. "I think any 56-year-old man, especially a 56-year-old Congressman, that asserts himself like this on an 18-year-old girl, has got no business serving in Congress," Avakian said at a news conference. "There is nothing that can be explained that makes this situation right. He's got to resign."

The authorities in Norway are having a problem counting the dead from last week’s tragic attack by the lone local man. I heard the reports say 94 were dead, then 77 were dead, then 68 were dead and then 73 were dead. Apparently the island location for the more brutal portion of the attack is isolated and the terrain is hard to search. The final death toll will only govern our shock, misery and disgust for the barbaric human that did the killing. He will face 21 years in prison regardless of the death toll he caused.

"Oh Dean!"

July 25 is … Threading The Needle Day

Stay away from haystacks while celebrating today.

In Norway, the maximum punishment for any crime is 21 years in prison. It does not matter what the crime is, the number of victims or the number of separate crimes committed in one act, the maximum punishment is 21 years in prison. That means that the Anders Behring Breivik, the 32 year-old Norwegian man that bombed a government building and then drove ninety miles to kill over 80 teenagers will be released from prison when he is 53, assuming he is convicted of the crime. That just does not seem right or just. With that thinking, you might as well kill as many people as you dislike at once since after the first murder, the rest are free.

I will bet it takes Washington DC less than five years to create a slum out of Walter Reed Hospital. Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the Army's flagship hospital where privates to presidents have gone for care, is closing its doors after more than a century.

Hundreds of thousands of the nation's war wounded from World War I to today have received treatment at Walter Reed, including 18,000 troops who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

President Dwight Eisenhower died there. So did Gens. John J. Pershing and Douglas MacArthur.

It's where countless celebrities, from Bob Hope to quarterback Tom Brady, have stopped to show their respect to the wounded. Through the use of medical diplomacy, the center also has tended to foreign leaders.

The storied hospital, which opened in 1909, was scarred by a 2007 scandal about substandard living conditions on its grounds for wounded troops in outpatient care and the red tape they faced. It led to improved care for the wounded, at Walter Reed and throughout the military. By then, however, plans were moving forward to close Walter Reed's campus.

Two years earlier, a government commission, noting that Walter Reed was showing its age, voted to close the facility and consolidate its operations with the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., and a hospital at Fort Belvoir, Va., to save money. Former and current patients and staff members will say goodbye at a ceremony Wednesday on the parade grounds in front of the main concrete and glass hospital complex. Most of the moving will occur in August. On Sept. 15, the Army hands over the campus to the new tenants: the State Department and the District of Columbia. The buildings on campus deemed national historic landmarks will be preserved; others probably will be torn down. The city is expected to develop its section for retail and other uses.

A Target or Walmart  no doubt. I also bet it will be a haven for the homeless, the lazy, drug addicts, drug dealers and prostitutes. You know the type of place where the Mayor of Washington DC hangs out.

"For many of the staff members, even though they know that this is the future of the military health system, in a way, it's still like losing your favorite uncle, and so there is a certain amount of mourning that is going on and it is an emotional time," said Col. Norvell Coots, commander of the Walter Reed Health Care System. The new facility will be called the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. It will consolidate many of Walter Reed's current offerings with the Navy hospital

On the lighter side of reality, Crooner Dean Martin and comedian Jerry Lewis staged their first show as a team this day in 1946 at Club 500 in Atlantic City, NJ. Actually, the two had met while performing -- separately -- at the Glass Hat in New York City and decided to try an ad-lib act together. The rest is entertainment history.

The duo went from earning $350 a week to $5,000 a week in under eight months, with Martin playing the romantic straight man opposite Lewis as his goofy, unpredictable partner. Ten years later, the curtain came down on their final team performance at the Copacabana in New York. Over that decade, the zany two made seventeen movies including My Friend Irma, That’s My Boy, The Caddy, Pardners, Jumping Jacks and The Stooge.

Dean Martin went on to become a recording star (Memories are Made of This, Return to Me, Everybody Loves Somebody), movie star (The Young Lions, Rio Bravo, Sons of Katie Elder, the Matt Helm series) and host of his own TV variety show, The Dean Martin Show. Lewis pursued a solo career in Hollywood as comic lead (The Sad Sack, Cinderfella, The Nutty Professor); director (The Bellboy, The Errand Boy, The Patsy, Family Jewels, Which Way to the Front); producer; teacher (USC); and consummate entertainer. It would take 20 years for the two to speak publicly with each other again.

Martin died December 25, 1995. Lewis continues to set records in fund-raising during his annual Stars Across America! Labor Day Telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (he has been chairman of the MDA since 1950). Lewis announced earlier in 2011 he was retiring from the telethon although he would still be involved. The Las Vegas resident continues to make nightclub appearances and returned to the stage in the Broadway revival production of Damn Yankees in 1996. Critics called his performance as the Devil, a rip-roaring success.

I know Jerry Lewis is not popular with younger folks and is not understood by everyone but for once the French got it right. Lewis is a comic genius and the world is a better place with him in it. That cannot be said about all of us.

Just a few points to ponder.

July 24 is … Amelia Earhart Day

It took me a lot of work just to locate this day.

The Experimental Aircraft Association opens in Osh Kosh, WI on July 25, 2011. The EEA convention is a great time and a huge air show. The Boeing Dreamliner is making its air show debut there, just several years late. If you get a chance, go to this convention at least once in your life. It is held every year around the same time at the same place. Enjoy and have fun.

From HuffPost, after more than two days of deliberation, jurors convicted Ohio serial killer Anthony Sowell of aggravated murder in the deaths of 11 women whose decomposed remains were found at his Cleveland home. He was found guilty on scores of additional charges related to the deaths, including kidnapping.

Families of the victims hugged and wept as Judge Dick Ambrose read the verdict just before 3 p.m. on Friday. Sowell, wearing a gray polo shirt in court, could face the death penalty. Sowell, 51, had pleaded not guilty to more than 80 offenses related to the deaths of the women, who began disappearing in 2007. The bodies were discovered in Sowell's Cleveland home in 2009. He'd previously served 15 years in prison for a 1989 rape conviction.

Many of the victims had been missing for significant periods of time; most had criminal records and suffered from drug addiction. Nine of the victims had traces of cocaine or depressants in their systems. Prosecutors say Sowell lured the victims to his home with the promise of alcohol or drugs. The bodies of five women were found in shallow graves in Sowell's back yard. Four more bodies were discovered on the third floor of his home, and the remains of two more women were discovered in the basement. Several were so badly decomposed had to be identified using dental records.  Another five women reported that Sowell attacked and sexually assaulted them in his home.

 In his closing arguments, Sowell's attorney John Parker argued that none of the defendant's DNA had been linked to his client. He said that Sowell, an honorably discharged U.S. Marine, "deserved better." He also accused police of mishandling the crime scene.

But Richard Bombik, Cuyahoga County Assistant Prosecutor, said there was a distinct pattern in Sowell's violent behavior and evidence "overwhelmingly" linked the deaths to him.

"This is not complicated, ladies and gentlemen," he told jurors in his closing statements. "Do not make it complicated."

This is the type of case lawyers are criticized for. People are always saying “How can you represent this man?” or something like that. Everyone has a Constitutional Right to representation. A lawyer must zealously represent his client within the bounds of the law. I often would forego a trial and go straight to the death penalty but only in cases where the accused is claiming innocence; then he gets his day in Court.

The United States does not have a monopoly on mass murderers. The 32-year-old Norwegian man who allegedly went on a shooting spree on the island of Utoya has been identified as Anders Behring Breivik, according to multiple reports.

The Daily Mail and Sky News were among those to report the suspect's name. According to witnesses, the gunman was dressed as a police officer and gunned down young people as they ran for their lives at a youth camp. Police said Friday evening that they’ve linked the youth camp shooting and Oslo bombing. Breivik is believed to have acted alone.

Norwegian TV2 reports that Breivik belongs to "right-wing circles" in Oslo. Swedish news site Expressen adds that he has been known to write to right-wing forums in Norway, is a self-described nationalist and has also written a number of posts critical of Islam. A Twitter account for Breivik has surfaced, though it only has one post, this quote from philosopher John Stuart Mill: "One person with a belief is equal to the force of 100 000 who have only interests." The tweet was posted on July 17.

On a Facebook account that Norwegian media outlets have attributed to Breivik, he describes himself as having Christian, conservative views. He says he enjoys hunting, the games World of Warcraft and Modern Warfare 2, and lives in Oslo. He also lists political analysis and stock analysis as interests.

President Obama was quick to react to this story and used the term ‘terrorist’. Not every mass murderer is a terrorist. The term ‘terrorist’ is losing its significance because we use it too much. It is becoming an accepted part of our world and we could stop that if we wanted to. It would upset a few people but only the living.

At least vanilla ice cream won't screw us.

JULY 23, 2011

BRUCE A. BRENNAN BLOG FROM THE WORLD AND MY MIND

The news as I see it and the views as I want them.

July 23 is … National Vanilla Ice Cream Day

Today was probably created for our beloved Governor Milquetoast, you know, the guy in Israel on our dime with his live-in girlfriend. At least it is a girl.

Who is screwing whom around this country and the world?

1. Congress is screwing the citizens that vote and are productive;

2. President Obama is screwing white people and others that work and pay their taxes under the tax laws;

3. The governor of Illinois, Governor Milquetoast is screwing the people of Illinois; he is going to veto the gambling legislation passed in Springfield by the people elected to their job. Milquetoast was appointed after the last biggest screwer ‘Blago’ was indicted; Milquetoast was then elected after the Republicans ran a moron against him because they misread the fact the Tea Party does not play well in Peoria;

4. The liberal, Democrat leaning press is pushing the Obama agenda down Americas throat and Obama is paying them back with interviews, White House access and bailout money;

5. The medical industry is screwing everyone that pays for them own health care or has private insurance; I am undergoing a series of skin graphs, each one costs $5,465.00 and I have had 5 and will get an additional 5; each procedure takes less than fifteen minutes of time for the doctor but his fee out of the $5,465.00 is $1,400.00; the skin graph costs $4,000.00 out of the total. I asked the doctor what Medicare pays for these procedures, he told me they pay $1,400.00 and will cover 8 of the procedures. Someone in Washington, a bean-counter not a doctor predecided that in a Medicare situation 8 procedures will correct the problem without ever discussing this with the doctor involved or reviewing the particular case; it was also decided the price that will be paid is $1,400.00. Why are I and millions like me and our private insurance providers getting screwed for $5,465.00 for the procedure if the same procedure works and is supposedly identical for $1,400.00 when Medicare pays for it? This is just one example and this will worsen and become more prevalent under Obamacare. Remember the death panel scare? They do exist and will grow exponentially with government mandated health care. Kiss Grandma and Grandpa good bye.

6. The NFL is screwing the fans. The rich owners finally decided to give the rich players more money making them richer. The owners ratified the proposed deal on Thursday, unanimously. The NFL players refused to even vote on the proposed deal. The NFL players union, for the second time, decertified itself earlier this spring. Therefore there is no union. Once the contract is finally approved, the union will recertify itself. What are the players paying the union dues for. The un ion decertifies so they technically do not represent the players, current and former. When the current players get their deal and it screws the former players, the union can throw up their hands saying, “Hey, it wasn’t us.” More screwing by the NFL than a Johnny Holmes film.

7. The Republican Party is screwing every Republican, every conservative and many independents that do not want to reelect Obama. The Republican Party is once again recycling older candidates who have already lost at least once. The Party does this when it does not believe a sitting President can be defeated. The morons, liars, criminals, cheats and millionaires they have running now do not want to solve any problems. They do not know how to solve any problems. They just want to tell us what is wrong, who is to blame and how good it used to be.

8. The Atlanta school system screwed the children and parents of Atlanta and many others. Part of the fall-out is massive firings and layoffs. All of these people will get unemployment, food stamps and a host of other welfare type benefits that will cost all taxpayers money. In addition, several suits are being threatened by people who did nt get free tutors, school breakfasts nd lunches and other education benefits tied to the progress being shown by the school system. Since the School system was cheating and lying, many benefits did not get awarded. Parents want those benefits. The children were screwed the most since they were not getting a quality education while being taught by criminals.

These are just a few examples off the top of my head. None of us are even being kissed, just screwed.

Just a couple of thoughts I had and you should too.
